Region and Farm

During our first trip to Japan, this was the last farmer we spent time with, and yet our first release. This beautiful family farm is located in the Wazuka prefecture, and has been passed down through 5 generations. The farm is small, yet a powerful family team who cares immensely about maintaining the traditional, high quality practices of Matcha farming. A part of the Kyoto area, this region is known for it's rolling hills.

Tasting Profile

Rich and velvety, with profound layers of umami and a refined sweetness.

How to prepare

Storing information

Keep your Matcha fresh and vibrant green by storing it properly:

  • Store in an airtight container: Matcha oxidizes quickly when exposed to air, so always keep it sealed tight.
  • Keep it cool and dark: Store in the refrigerator or a cool, dark cupboard away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Avoid moisture: Make sure the container is completely dry and keep it away from humid environments.
  • Use within 1–2 months of opening: Once opened, Matcha is best enjoyed fresh. The flavour and colour will gradually fade over time.
  • Before opening: Unopened Matcha can be stored in the freezer for extended freshness — just let it come to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.

This bowl is so so stunning! 🤩🤩 The texture, and shape is beautiful. I first bought the Hajime matcha, then I only bought the bundle. The matcha is amazing - second time buying it! Some of my favourite parts of the day making my matcha with this bowl ❤️

The details that make the difference

Over 80%

of matcha is fake

Most global "matcha" is actually fake matcha grown outside of Japan and skip the slow traditional methods.

* Our matcha is from Japan and is organic.

3rd harvest

is most of the matcha

Most matcha globally is from 2nd and 3rd harvest. These older leaves are highly astringent and bitter.

* Our matcha is 1st harvest - young leaves means more sweetness, less astringency.

5+ middlemen

between you and the farmer

Agencies and factories that sit between the farmers and your matcha dilute the quality and disregard farmer community support.

* We visit our farmers in person and buy directly from them.
